From May 13 to 19, 2025, Mumbai’s iconic Jehangir Art Gallery will host ‘Thread Story’, a solo exhibition by Pune-based eminent artist and designer Alka Rode Held in Gallery No. 3 and open daily from 11 AM to 7 PM, the exhibition invites viewers into a world where fabric, thread, and design converge to tell powerful, textured stories.

This show was inaugurated on 13th May 2025 by distinguished Design Educator and Calligrapher Hon. Dr. Santosh Kshirsagar former Dean of J.J. institute of Applied of Art, Mumbai

Alka Rode, a trained graphic designer and fine artist, moves beyond the boundaries of traditional media in this compelling collection. Using fabric scraps and running stitches, she constructs compositions that are not only visually engaging but emotionally resonant. Her work represents a unique synthesis of art and craft — transforming everyday materials into a narrative language that is both personal and universally relatable.

A defining feature of Thread Story is Alka’s extraordinary ability to see potential in the discarded. Small, seemingly non-useful pieces of used clothing — often overlooked as scraps — are placed thoughtfully on the canvas, each stitch guided by her artistic vision. What begins as waste in the eyes of many becomes a meaningful and intricate composition under her hands. That transformation, from ordinary to extraordinary, is the quiet magic of Alka Rode’s artistry.

At the heart of Thread Story lies an exploration of womanhood. Alka portrays the feminine experience through multiple lenses — from divine archetypes to the contemporary woman — each piece offering a new perspective on identity, strength, and emotion. These themes are expressed not through paint or pencil, but through layers of fabric stitched together with deliberate care, giving each artwork a tactile and intimate dimension.

In addition to thematic portraits, the exhibition features a series of abstract compositions. These works reflect Alka’s keen design sensibility, honed through years of experience and formal education, including a G.D. Art, an Art Teacher Diploma, and an M.A. in Fine Arts. Her command over color theory, texture, and visual rhythm is evident throughout the show. Each stitch becomes a mark of continuity, connection, and contemplation — turning fragments into wholes, silence into conversation.

“The thread is my line, and fabric is my medium,” Alka explains. “What I create is not just an image — it’s a visual story stitched together with thought and emotion.”

Thread Story is more than an exhibition — it is an invitation to see art through a new lens, where thread carries meaning and fabric holds memory. The show stands as a bold example of innovation in contemporary Indian art, offering a sensory and symbolic experience that resonates long after the viewer has left the gallery.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, witnessed the launch of the “Fujairah International Oud Forum”, organised by the Fujairah Fine Arts Academy from 5 to 7 May 2025, under the slogan “One Oud, Multiple Cultures”, at the Fujairah Creative Cultural Centre.

His Highness the Crown Prince of Fujairah stressed the importance of the forum in embodying the Emirate’s vision of supporting culture and arts, and enhancing its presence in regional and international forums in these sectors, in addition to honouring the distinguished artistic experiences at the level of the state and the world, pointing to the role of music in enhancing communication between peoples.

His Highness noted the follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, and His Highness’s support for cultural and artistic activities in the emirate, based on its role in building the promotion of cultural openness among humans, and consolidating the position of the UAE as a global centre for creativity and coexistence.

The launch ceremony of the forum included a huge musical performance presented by an orchestra of 50 musicians of multiple nationalities, who presented a charming musical watch that mixed different styles such as Spanish flamenco, rock, and oriental Arabic music, along with Indian, Uzbek, Azerbaijani and Turkish styles, in a scene that reflects the spirit of diversity and global cultural openness.

On its second and third days, the forum will also witness individual and group presentations, in addition to workshops and seminars highlighting the history of the oud instrument and its various schools, in addition to hosting three of the most prominent Oud makers in the Arab world and Turkey, to showcase their skills and exchange experiences with the participants.

The event is also an exhibition dedicated to artisans and Oud makers from different countries, which enhances opportunities for artistic and cultural exchange. The forum is an important annual station for artists and those interested in oriental music, and emphasises Fujairah’s commitment to investing in culture as part of its comprehensive development vision.

The ceremony was attended by H.E. Dr. Ahmed Hamdan Al Zeyoudi, Director of the Office of His Highness the Crown Prince of Fujairah, His Excellency Ali Obaid Al Hafiti, General Manager of the Fujairah Fine Arts Academy, and a number of prominent figures in the field of music, culture and the arts.

Model actress Shahin Parween has been honored in the award show presented by Earth to Sky Production in Pattaya, Bangkok, Thailand. Where she has been honored with Mrs. World L’Oreal India Award and Crown. Mr., Mrs. and Miss 2025 International Ramp and Fashion Show was organized in Thailand. Shahin Parween was the winner of this show. The organizers of this fashion show are Parth Kotak and Sunita Bawa. First of all, the show was organized in India, in which many models participated. There were many rounds in this ramp and fashion show, Shahin Parween was the winner of this show which lasted for about a week. After selection in this show, about fourteen finalists were sent to Thailand. There too the fashion show took place in three to four rounds and Shaheen Parveen got the title of Mrs. World L’Oreal India 2025.

Shahin told her experience during this show that it was a very good fashion show. This was her first fashion show which took place on such a big level. Shaheen further said that she got the support of organizer Parth Kotak, Sunita Bawa and her team along with her co-models. Being a part of this fashion show was very pleasant and entertaining.

The letter, signed by IMPPA President Abhay Sinha, conveys the sentiments of India’s film production community in the wake of what it called “a brilliantly planned and executed” operation. The association described Operation Sindoor not just as a tactical success, but as “the roar of Bharat Mata herself”, representing the spirit and resolve of a fearless and united India.

Operation Sindoor: A Turning Point

The background to this emotional tribute lies in a recent terrorist attack that claimed innocent Indian lives. The nation was in mourning, and expectations were high for strong action. The government’s response came swiftly in the form of Operation Sindoor, a military strike carried out with “extraordinary precision”, targeting those responsible.

IMPPA emphasized the significance of India’s robust defense system, praising the armed forces for their flawless coordination and preparedness in protecting the nation. It stated that the operation showcased India’s defense strength — where not just missiles but morale and national unity soared.

“For years, we have tolerated threats to our peace,” the letter notes, “but now, those who challenge our safety know the consequences.” It added that this action has instilled greater confidence among citizens—from remote villages to metropolitan cities—making them feel prouder and safer.

Cultural Fraternity Stands with the Nation

This rare and high-level show of support from the film industry body is symbolic of how Operation Sindoor has united various sections of society. The IMPPA, representing one of India’s most influential creative sectors, has firmly aligned itself with national sentiment.

The letter concludes with a stirring salute to the Prime Minister, the armed forces, and the spirit of “New India — fearless, united and forever proud.”

Noida, 9th May 2025: The International Chamber of Media and Entertainment Industry (ICMEI) and Asian Law College, in partnership with Cyber Humane, successfully hosted a high-impact Landmark Conclave on Digital Dignity at the Asian Law College campus. The event brought together top legal minds, cybersecurity experts, diplomats, and educators to address the most pressing concerns of our digital age under the compelling theme:
“Securing the Digital Frontier – Addressing Cyber Threats, Misinformation, and Privacy in the Age of AI, Deepfakes, and Global Surveillance.”

The conclave featured intensive sessions, each focusing on emerging challenges surrounding cybersecurity, ethical digital conduct, misinformation, surveillance technologies, and data privacy. Shyna Sunsara is associated with AB Bansal Music and AB Bansal Production as a Co-Producer. Shyna is also known as the ‘Wonder Woman’ of Vadodara. She has planted 18 lakh trees so far, due to which she has gained a lot of fame in the country and abroad. Her work on the Miyawaki Patches Forest Water Harvesting Project is also noteworthy. Shyna also works a lot in the field of education of poor and needy children and in the field of women empowerment. Shyna Sunsara is the Environment Chairperson in the International Committee of Lions Club.

Shyna, who has been Miss Gujarat, Miss India Earth 2017, Miss United Nations 2018, has been honored many awards, notable among which are the Global Gandhi Award and Leadership Award in the British Parliament and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2018.

When Shyna saw the historic moment of twin sister Sofiya Quraishi on TV, she was filled with patriotism and pride. Shyna said that she came to know from a relative’s call that Sofiya Quraishi was going to give a briefing on Operation Sindoor. As soon as she turned on the television, her eyes and heart were filled with emotion.

Daughters of a military family Sofiya Quraishi and Shyna’s family has a long line of patriotic soldiers. Their father served in the 1971 war, grandfather was in the army, uncle in the BSF, and great-grandfather left the British army and took part in the freedom fight. Their grandmother used to tell them brave stories of an ancestor who fought with the Jhansi ki Rani in the 1857 revolt. Shyna said, ‘Seeing Sofiya talking about Operation Sindoor, it felt as spirit of Jhansi Ki Rani come alive.’

Let us tell you that in childhood both the sisters dreamt of joining the army and serving the country. Their hard work paid off and Sofiya is not only in the army today, but is also creating history and becoming a source of inspiration for countless women. Shyna is serving the country through social works.
