NCP and Hajara Foundation Trust successfully organised a blood donation camp in Mumbai

Mumbai: Considering an ongoing countrywide COVID-19 pandemic, a blood donation and plasma donation camp was jointly organised by the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Hajara Foundation Trust, Mahatma Gandhi Seva Mandir Blood Bank, NCP’s North West Mumbai District President Sultan Salim Baig, NCP Andheri District Graduate Cell President Asif Shaikh, Andheri Taluka President Sameer Shaikh and NCP Mumbai General Secretary Sudip Pandey on a grand scale at Navbharat Society, Andheri, Mumbai on 29 November 2020. In the camp, nearly 300 blood units were collected for which organisers thanked all blood donors.

On the occasion Asif Shaikh said that the blood does not carry the mark of the donor’s religion, caste or his/her background. The blood is an essential ingredient of life. But unfortunately many people do not think on these lines. With every blood donation, three lives can be saved or improved. Every year several surgeries are carried out world over, which include blood transfusion and related treatment. Resultantly constant blood donation is essential.

Sultan Salim Baig and Asif Shaikh appealed people, to donate blood regularly to save precious lives of the needy patients. If anyone returns after 14 days quarantine, the anti-bodies are produced in his/her blood, which are equipped to fight the virus. If such person donates the plasma, other patients can be cured. “As such please donate the blood and save the lives of people”, they added.

Sudip Pandey encouraged his fans to come forward to donate blood and help affected people.  “As you spend several hours to watch a cricket match, in the same way you should spare time to donate blood. Because your blood donation in few minutes can save anybody’s life. There is no better way to become a hero among people, by donating the blood. The blood donation gives me a great amount of pleasure”, he added.

Gujarat’s former Senior Civil Judge’s daughter Chandni Vegad makes debut as a singer in Bollywood

India has a host of talented artists and the youth present their skills in different areas. Chandni Vegad, who hails from Jamnagar in Gujarat, is one such talented artist, who is set to enter Bollywood with big bang. After her voice was heard in a recent show, she was signed for the feature film “Living Relation” being produced under the banner of the “High Speed Cine International”. Ashish Gajera and Sonal are the producers and Arman Zahidi is the director of this film.

Chandni, a resident of Jamnagar, is the daughter of K P Vegad, who was the Senior Civil Judge. Studying in 10 th standard in “Shri Satya Sai Vidyalaya in Jamnagar, Chandni participated in Gujarat’s “Rajya Kala Kumbh-2018”, Cryst College, Rajkot’s “Spandan-2019” and other contests and came off with flying colours. In most of the competitions, she emerged first and was second runner up in a few other contests. Besides this, she also participated in the contests in Gujarat and Mumbai.

The singing has been her biggest aim ever since she began learning the singing at the age of 7 years, She has an enormous interest in classical music as well.

On being selected for playback in a film, Chandni said” Dilipbhai who is my father’s friend, heard me in one of the singing competitions and gave me the break. The recording will be held in Mumbai soon. Besides this, the talks are going on with one or two production houses for singing assignments. I will reveal details about them after the talks are finalised”.

About whether she will continue studies and pursue singing or concentrate only on singing career, she said that she will continue both since the education and singing, both are essential in life. The singing is my passion, but simultaneously the study is also essential.

About her singing idols Chandni said “I like the songs of Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosale, the most. Besides I like the singing of the singer Armaan Malik and Arijit Singh. These veteran artists possess distinct qualities. That way I listen to the songs of almost all singers and songstresses.

In these circumstances, the people are curious about the progress of Chandni in Bollywood.

India has seen a tremendous rise of video content on various platforms in the past couple of years. With cheaper and efficient data costs, the Over the Top (OTT) platforms are racing ahead as far as online video streaming consumption of contents are concerned.

The pandemic and the lockdown has given rise to online-video streaming consumption.

Dharam  Gupta began his career as an assistant production manager and rose to the ranks of starting his own production company – Water Drop Entertainment & Media Private Limited.

His production house made many television serials including “Crime Alert” which gave opportunities to many aspiring makers to film their content overseas for the first time.

His various programmes to be aired on his platform have veteran and dignified actors like Ranjit, Kiran Kumar, Raza Murad, Jasleen Matharu amongst many others.

“For a good film, you don’t need big money or big stars. You just need a good script and a team of beautiful crew members backing it. That’s it”. Says award winning film director Sam Khan who awaits to collaborate with the Taiwanese Government for his next ambitious project.

Budding director Sam Khan is a man on a mission.

A firm believer in tiding in the new wave, he wants to promote the segment of short format films between 1 to 50 minutes.  This is a zone he believes is a beautiful space to be in, because here you don’t need very big people, budgets or stars. “For a good film, you just need a good script and brilliant crew members. You don’t need money or a big ambience. I am trying to create a different path for shorter format films. Because no platform right now, neither Amazon nor Netflix are buying shorter format films, and this segment definitely needs encouragement, because today people from smaller towns like Lucknow, Kanpur are asking, is there a future of making such films?”

“If I or any budding director is trying to make a shorter film, today there is no future in terms of commercial success for it. We need to make this segment bigger so we can encourage people to experiment. Why should we be restricted by a myopic vision of how to make cinema in today’s day and age, where with the emergence of the digital platforms you don’t need to go anywhere. Entertainment is right in your hands.” Khan points out.

Not new to the world of short format films himself, his film “Seven” won the Inspiring film of the year award at the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival in 2019. And this London educated filmmaker is now taking his next steps Internationally in this direction with a certain vision.

Collaborating with the Tokyo Government for his next short format film, “Knuckle Duster” This Indo- Japanese Collaboration is going to be shot entirely in Tokyo post the Covid-19 situation lifts. Starring Yash Raaj Singh ( the main negative lead of the Hrithik Roshan starrer War), the film is touted to be India’s most expensive action film shot in the short format.

“Hollywood has taken the format of short films very seriously. They are keeping in mind Film Festivals across the Globe including Berlin, Cannes & Tokyo but India is not producing the kind of films, which we can represent in the International Film Festivals in this format. We need to create something of our own, it’s high time”.

If he had to make an appeal to Bollywood regarding this what would it be? “If we talk about generational change, cinema is changing. If you see the last few films of the bigger stars, they haven’t really worked. Only content is working. Today the audience wants to watch something which is smart. That’s why Netflix has such a huge subscription in India, because the choices are evolving and there is such hunger for good content.”

“I have an appeal to the audiences to also open up to this format, we need people to appreciate work also in this format so it can get the platform it rightfully deserves.  There are people telling beautiful stories even in a one-minute time span when given the opportunity”.

Resting his case, he ends with, “When you talk about shorter films, there is no segment of commercial cinema or non-commercial cinema, because shorter films are not about commercials, they are about conviction. And conviction is the key what we need to go firmly after, and I know they will find the right audience for it once they open up to this whole new world of storytelling”. He convincingly signs out.

He is currently in the pre-production stages of making one of India’s most expensive action film in the short format film in collaboration with the Tokyo Government and hails to take this format far with his endeavors.
