New Delhi: The Indo–Djibouti Film and Cultural Forum was formally inaugurated by H.E. Isse Abdillahi Assoweh, Ambassador of the Republic of Djibouti to India, at a gracious ceremony held at the Embassy of Djibouti in New Delhi.

The launch marks an important step towards strengthening cultural, cinematic and creative relations between India and Djibouti and creating new opportunities for collaboration in the fields of films, television, media, education, art and culture.

Speaking on the occasion, H.E. Isse Abdillahi Assoweh, Ambassador of the Republic of Djibouti to India, welcomed the initiative and appreciated the efforts to bring the two nations closer through the power of cinema and culture. He emphasised that cultural exchange is an effective means of promoting mutual understanding, friendship and people-to-people relations. He expressed his desire to see greater cooperation between India and Djibouti in the creative sectors and hoped that the Forum would become a vibrant platform for meaningful exchanges and joint initiatives.

Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President, International Chamber of Media and Entertainment Industry (ICMEI), said that India and Djibouti share tremendous potential for cooperation in the fields of media, entertainment, films and culture. He emphasised that cinema has the unique ability to connect people beyond geographical boundaries and can play a significant role in strengthening diplomatic and cultural relations.

Dr. Marwah said that the Indo–Djibouti Film and Cultural Forum would work towards facilitating film exchanges, cultural programmes, filmmakers’ interactions, academic collaborations, joint productions, festivals and other creative initiatives between the two countries.

“India has always believed in the philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam—the world is one family. Through cinema, art and culture, we can build bridges of friendship, understanding and cooperation between India and Djibouti,” said Dr. Sandeep Marwah.

He further expressed confidence that the Forum would open new avenues for filmmakers, artists, media professionals, students and cultural organisations from both nations and contribute to stronger bilateral relations.

The inauguration concluded with a commitment to further promote India–Djibouti friendship through films, media, art and culture, making the Forum an important platform for long-term cooperation between the two countries.

A series of prestigious civic ceremonies across New York State honoured His Eminence Prof. Sir Dr. Madhu Krishan—eminent scientist, humanitarian, educator, and global peace advocate—for his outstanding contributions to humanitarian service, scientific advancement, education, international cooperation, environmental sustainability, and global peace.

The official recognition commenced In a  significant recognition, The Hon. Gary R. McCarthy, Mayor of the City of Schenectady, presented an Official Proclamation acknowledging Prof. Dr. Madhu Krishan’s remarkable contributions to peace-building, education, humanitarian service, environmental sustainability, disaster management, and the promotion of human rights.

The highlight of the visit came when Mayor Gary R. McCarthy officially proclaimed July 1, 2026, as “The Day of His Eminence Prof. Sir Dr. Madhu Krishan” in the City of Schenectady. The historic proclamation recognizes his extraordinary international achievements and enduring legacy in advancing global peace, scientific excellence, education, humanitarian values, and international friendship.

The proclamation was presented to Dr. Krishan in the Presence of dignitaries, including H.E. Dr. Philip Fields, Secretary of the New York State Assembly – Ways and Means Committee; H.E. Mr. John Mootooveren, Councilman of the City of Schenectady.

In the next  official recognitions commenced at the New York State Assembly, where Assemblyman H.E. Er. Angelo Santabarbara presented Prof. Dr. Madhu Krishan with a Citation of Honour in recognition of his decades of international leadership in promoting peace, education, humanitarian development, environmental stewardship, and global collaboration etc. etc.

On the occasion, AUGP USA and UNUGP USA honoured Mayor Dr. Dorcey Applyrs with the Human Excellence Golden Award in recognition of her exemplary public leadership, civic service, and commitment to community development.

In return, Mayor Dr. Dorcey Applyrs presented His Eminence Prof. Sir Dr. Madhu Krishan with a Citation of Honour, recognising his exceptional global contributions to peace, education, humanitarian service, scientific advancement, and international cooperation.

New York, July 7, 2026: An international seminar titled “Establishing Global Peace for Sustainable Development – Role of SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals” was held at the United Nations Headquarters, New York, bringing together distinguished diplomats, academicians, faith leaders, peace ambassadors, and international delegates to commemorate the upcoming 250th Anniversary of American Independence and promote the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The seminar was convened by His Eminence Prof. Dr. Madhu Krishan, eminent scientist, Chairman and Chief Rector/Chancellor of The United Nations University for Global Peace USA (UNUGP USA) and The American University USA (AUGP USA). He attended the event as the Chief Guest and addressed the gathering on the importance of global peace, quality education, humanitarian service, and international partnerships in achieving sustainable development.

The programme commenced with an invocation by His Grace Archbishop Dr. Joseph Alexander, Christocrat Governor of AUGP and UNUGP USA. In his welcome address, Prof. Dr. Madhu Krishan emphasized that collaboration among governments, educational institutions, faith-based organizations, and civil society is essential for building a peaceful and sustainable future.

A special highlight of the event was the presentation of an Official Proclamation and Citation of Honour to Prof. Dr. Madhu Krishan by Dr. Bindu Maria Thomas, recognizing his decades of humanitarian service and global contributions toward peace education, intercultural harmony, and sustainable development. The proclamation carried the official seals and signatures of distinguished New York dignitaries, including The Hon. Gary McCarthy, Mayor of the City of Schenectady; The Hon. Gary Hughes, Chairman of the Schenectady County Legislature; and The Hon. Angelo Santabarbara, Member of the New York State Assembly.

The seminar featured a series of keynote presentations focusing on United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 17 – Partnerships for the Goals.

H.E. Ambassador Dr. Carlos Garcia highlighted the significance of public-private partnerships and the role of faith-based organizations in advancing global development initiatives.

H.E. Ambassador Dr. Lester Sandres Rápalo delivered an insightful address titled “From Theory to Practice: Advancing Sustainable Development Through Global Partnerships.” Drawing from over 25 years of leadership in higher education, he explained how strategic collaborations have secured more than US$40 million in grants, expanded educational opportunities, and promoted social mobility through sustainable partnerships.

Additional perspectives were shared by H.E. Madelyn Rodriguez, Hispanic Outreach Manager for The Fellowship, who spoke about fostering peace through Christian-Jewish partnerships, humanitarian initiatives, and the Flags of Fellowship programme. H.E. Ambassador Ps. Dr. Varghese George also contributed to the panel discussion on global cooperation and sustainable peace.

Recognition of Nation Builders and Peace Ambassadors

During the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Madhu Krishan honoured distinguished global leaders for their outstanding contributions to education, leadership, humanitarian service, and peacebuilding.

Slovak Cultural Days In India Celebrated At Marwah Studios With Film Festival And Photo Exhibition

Noida, 16 November 2025: Marwah Studios, Film City Noida, hosted a special cultural showcase to mark the 36th Anniversary of the Velvet Revolution and the ongoing Slovak Cultural Days in India. The Embassy of the Slovak Republic in India, in collaboration with the Indo Slovak Film and Cultural Forum of ICMEI, organised a vibrant Festival of Slovak Films along with an Art and Photography Exhibition, celebrating the creativity, history, and cinematic excellence of Slovakia.

The festival was formally inaugurated by H.E. Robert Maxian, Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to India, who lit the ceremonial lamp to commence the proceedings. In his address, Ambassador Maxian highlighted the strength and global impact of the Slovak creative industry. He spoke about the power of cinema as a bridge between cultures, expressing pride in presenting Slovak storytelling, artistry, and heritage to Indian audiences.

Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President of Marwah Studios and Chair for the Indo Slovak Film and Cultural Forum, welcomed the dignitaries and guests. Inauguration Of The International Conference On “Environment, Climate & Human Living Conditions In The Light Of The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.”

The Kerala Law Academy Law College, Thiruvananthapuram, in collaboration with the University of Paris Nanterre, Europa-Universität Viadrina Frankfurt, and Deutsch-Französische Hochschule, successfully inaugurated the International Conference on “Environment, Climate, and Human Living Conditions in the Light of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.” The event brought together over twenty-five distinguished legal experts from India, France, Germany, Italy, and the Czech Republic.

The proceedings commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Malavika J, Assistant Professor at Kerala Law Academy Law College, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Renowned speakers Prof. Carmen Thiele (Europa-Universität Viadrina Frankfurt) and Prof. Stephanie Rolfing-Dija (University of Paris Nanterre), along with Dr. Dakshina Saraswathi, Associate Professor at Kerala Law Academy Law College, addressed the gathering.

H.E. Robert Maxian, Ambassador of Slovakia to India, Presented Patronship of Indo-Slovakia Film and Cultural Forum

New Delhi, 23rd August 2025: In a graceful and meaningful ceremony held at the Embassy of Slovakia in New Delhi, the Indo-Slovakia Film and Cultural Forum (ISFCF) presented its Patronship to H.E. Robert Maxian, Ambassador of Slovakia to India. The occasion marked yet another milestone in the deepening cultural and creative ties between India and Slovakia.

The forum, established under the aegis of the International Chamber of Media and Entertainment Industry (ICMEI), has been working consistently to foster closer people-to-people connections between the two nations through the powerful mediums of art, cinema, culture, and education.

Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President of Marwah Studios, Chancellor of AAFT University of Media and Arts, and Chair of the Indo-Slovakia Film and Cultural Forum for the past nine years, expressed his gratitude to Ambassador Maxian for his continuous encouragement and support. “Slovakia has stood by us as a valued partner in numerous high-profile events of ICMEI, including our global festivals of cinema, journalism, literature, and fashion. The participation of Slovakia has always added a distinct cultural richness to our initiatives,” said Dr. Marwah.

H.E. Robert Maxian, while accepting the Patronship, appreciated the efforts of ICMEI and Dr. Marwah for creating a strong cultural bridge between India and Slovakia. He emphasized the role of cultural diplomacy in bringing nations closer, and assured his full support to further expanding collaborations in film, art, and education.

The Indo-Slovakia Film and Cultural Forum has, over the years, organized film screenings, cultural evenings, academic exchanges, and artistic collaborations that have brought Slovak cinema and culture closer to the Indian public, while also creating opportunities for Indian artists and filmmakers in Slovakia.

The ceremony concluded on a note of optimism, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to explore new avenues of cooperation in the creative industries, thus strengthening the historic friendship between India and Slovakia.
