Shaman Wheels, dealers for Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars in the city, celebrated its 10th year of association at an event lit-up with the latest luxury cars, high-fashion & gastronomy where renowned fashion designer Amy Billimoria mesmerized the guests with her collection with a show directed by Nisha Haraale. Versatile actress, Pakkhi Hegde is well known for picking challenging scripts when it comes to films. The actress has been always appreciated for her strong performances in women centric films. And when it comes to work she never misses giving her best shot. She will be essaying the role of a 65 year old lady in her upcoming Bollywood film, Pyari Dadi Maa.

The actress seems is following legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan’s footsteps with whom she had shared screen in the movie, The Great Leader. Amitabh Bachchan too has gone under major makeover for his upcoming film, Gulabo Sitabo.

Inspired by Bachchan, Pakkhi feels it’s always thrilling to pick such challenges. She says, “I am extremely proud of myself for picking this script. It is challenging but exciting too. Chennai: The grand event of Indywood Fashion Premiere League Season 3 concluded successfully at Taj Connemara in Chennai on Feb 14 th 2020. The event was organised along with the official launch of Indywood Billionaires Club – Chennai chapter where top enterprising business icons from the state of Tamil Nadu were honored. Recognizing the relevance of age old tradition of weaving and the major role it has played in shaping the fashion world since ages, IFPL season 3 was themed “A walk for a Cause” which unveiled a greater cause of promoting the Indian weaver’s community.

IFPL season 3 showcased handpicked designs by Mrs. Abhini Sohan, Executive Director – IFPL, who is known for her impeccable design sense. Travelling around the world and imbibing fashion from varied cultures and nations, her choice of clothes showcased in the event was subject to great appreciation. As a designer, Abhini Sohan’s passion in designing started budding at a very tender age. Her inspiration was her mother and cousin who is a renowned fashion designer in South India. Her initially designed pieces mostly included an exquisite collection of sarees. Her keenness in travelling with hardcore passion for fashion made her travel the world, watch, live and feel varied cultures. Handpicking of IFPL designer wears were also done through a similar process of travelling each place all by herself and choosing one from a wide range of collections. Particular attention was given to choosing designs closely knitted to the cultural aesthetics of that particular place. Her immaculate design sense coupled with the elegance of models brought the appearance of the costumes to a whole new level. While Abhini personally sees to the selection of dresses, her team of professionals is responsible to conduct the show in a top-notch manner. “According to me, fashion is something that must blend in and align with an individual’s body and shouldn’t look like an extra fitting. And, while wearing an outfit, it should have the power to enhance the appearance of the person and vice-versa”, she quoted.

Travelling to different villages and experiencing the struggle weaver communities are going through, Abhini decided to choose the theme to uphold the relevance of weaving in Indian culture. She believes that, if this generation of weavers aren’t taken care of, the next generation will be reluctant to step into that line of skill and it will eventually lead to the end of the weaving community.

The show was choreographed by ace fashion choreographer Mr. Dalu Krishandas, who has brought prominent changes to the South Indian fashion industry. Miss Super Globe World 2019, Akshara Reddy and Indian model and actress Vidya Pradeep, walked the ramp as celebrity Show stoppers. This year, IFPL will be organised at 5 different locations including Delhi, Kolkata and Ahmedabad focusing on the different film hubs of Indian film industry. IFPL aims to choose film industry as a medium to propagate the word of Indian fashion industry around the world. Watching Indywood, a media and film based company founded by Abhini’s husband, Mr. Sohan Roy, she realized movies’ potential to enhance a wide range of fields like music, fashion, technology etc., and thus the initial concept of IFPL struck Abhini.

Indian film industry is renowned worldwide and she believed that with its back support, Indian fashion industry could conquer heights.

As each year passes, the impact and reach of IFPL is getting better at a dramatic pace. In the upcoming years, IFPL is planning to add in more designers, models and choreographers. Since this year’s theme was focused on the method of cloth making, IFPL chose to bring up the weaver community. Next, IFPL will be focusing on materials, which will be khadi for the upcoming year.

From contestants confident walk on-ramp to showcasing Indian and Western outfits. This was the amazing scene of “Mrs India Maharashtra I am powerful 2020” and “Mrs India Maharashtra Curvy Pageant 2020” grand finale. The beauty pageant was organised by ‘Fairy Angel Events’ in association with ‘Aster Fine Arty Education’ in Mumbai at Prabhodhankar Thackrey Auditorium Borivali, on Friday evening 6th March 2020.

The Show was inaugurated by the State Director of Mrs India I am Powerful Maharashtra and Founder & Director of Fairy Angel Events Mrs Alveera Pinto Fernandes.

Mrs Alveera is the winner of ‘Mrs India Curvy Earth 2019’, ‘Mrs India Curvy – Best Rampwalk 2019’ subtitle winner and ‘Mrs Global India 2016’ runner up. She has won the ‘Indian Woman Achievers Award 2019’.

The Jury present were Mrs Jazpreet (Founder & Director of Aster Fine Arty Education & Director of Mrs India I am Powerful), Mrs Urooj Khan (Mrs Asia Pacific 2018), Mrs Anita P(Mrs Asia Pacific Ambassador), Mrs Anandmayee Ghosh(Mrs India I am Powerful-Tourism Global 2018) and Mrs Sukhwinder Kaur (Mrs India I am powerful-Global Universe 2nd runner up 2019). Special Guest Mr. Rajkumar Tiwari and Gautam Faldu were present for the event.

The contestants worked hard past few weeks from working on their ramp walk, poses, fitness and health. After 3 rounds of ramp walk and question-answer session, the jury had a tough decision to decide among the contestants for the crown.

Mrs Kamna Dsouza was crowned as Winner “Mrs India Maharashtra I am Powerful 2020”, Mrs Shraddha Mainkar was 1st runner up, Mrs Divya Rao was 2nd runner up and Mrs Priyanka Boria was 3rd runner up. Mrs Sunita Raikwar was crowned the winner for “Mrs India Maharashtra Curvy 2020” and Mrs Lorraine was the runner up for “Mrs India Maharashtra Curvy 2020”.

ISKCON Radha Gopinath Temple, Girgaon Chowpatty, awarded the winners from various schools of its much-coveted annual Gita Championship League at Sharda Mandir High School, Gamdevi. This year, GCL 2020 witnessed huge participation from Mumbai schools and colleges with around 6000 students participating from 68 schools from all over Mumbai (South Mumbai, Mira Road, Bhayander, Dahisar, Malad, Borivali, Powai, Bhandup, Mulund, Dombivli, Kalyan, Amabernath, Badlapur, etc.

On the occasion, Radhanath Swami Maharaj, ISKCON Spiritual Guru said, “Bhagwat Geeta is not just a book, but a life guru and has remained a teacher of practical living for thousands of years. Imbibing the learnings of Geeta in the early stages of life can have an enormous positive impact on the mind as we grow adults. It can help children in coping up with the challenges of life smoothly and happily.”

GCL was started in the year 2010 and since then it is continuing every year and thousands of students from hundreds of schools have participated every year. Taking inspiration from the contest here, the content also began in various parts of India including Goa, Belgaum, Nasik Gujarat, Indore and also few other places abroad like Malaysia, Mauritius, Middle East, etc. As of today, more than 1,40,000 registrations from over 1400 schools of various cities in India have happened.

H.G. Shubh Vilas Prabhu, renowned author graced the occasion as a Chief Guest along with Baldev Prabhu, Shubh Vilas Prabhu and Ms. Sheetal Lodha, daughter in law of Mr. Mangal Prabhat Lodha. While, ‘ISKCON Youth Services’ (IYS) head, H.G. Baldev Prabhu, hosted this ceremony and conversed with the gathering in his opening speech.

Inspired by the contest here in India, it also started in many other countries abroad like Malaysia, Mauritius, Middle East, etc., where 2000 to 3000 students participate in such contests.

School students from 5th to 10th standards are eligible to participate in this competition, where they showcase their practical knowledge and understanding of Bhagwat Geeta, the epic life-coach scripture.
