An Intellectual Beauty With A Myriad Of Talents – Prof Dr PARIN SOMANI Delivered Keynote Address At King’s College  Cambridge  England

Produced by Kumar Charitable Trust (Ashok Shah) and Shruti, the film is directed by Rajiv S. Ruia, written by Priyanka Mehta, music by Rajesh Sharma, sung by Tushar Verma.

Actor Tushar Kumar, who has a similar face to Aditya Roy Kapur, lives in Melbourne, Australia, but acting is not his hobby but his passion. He told that in the era of OTT and short films, in such a situation Dastak is a great suspense thriller short film directed by Rajiv S Ruia. It was a memorable experience working with co-actress Saru Maini, she is very professional and supportive.

Shooting in the scorching heat in Surat was quite challenging for Tushar Kumar but he never compromised on his work. Actress Saru Maini told that Tushar Kumar has a great passion for work. He comes to India from Melbourne for 8-10 days and does a lot of work here.

This short film of 20 minutes also has a theme song which has been shot beautifully.

Apart from Dastak, Saru Maini is very excited about her another upcoming project 72 Hoorein which is going to release next month.

फ़िल्म के प्रोड्यूसर आर एमजे मीडिया वेंचर प्राइवेट लिमिटेड हैं जबकि लेखक निर्देशक हरिपाल रावत ने फ़िल्म के गाने भी लिखे हैं और उन्होंने ही फ़िल्म में मुख्य भूमिका निभाई है। फ़िल्म के संगीतकार हरीश श्रीवास, डीओपी चितरंजन धाल हैं। हरिपाल रावत के अलावा फिल्म में रामा मेहरा, महिमा गुप्ता, वर्षा कापेकर, पृथ्वी, रज़ा मुराद, मोहन जोशी, मुश्ताक खान, शिवा, शशि शर्मा इत्यादि ने अभिनय किया है।

By the end of the 1960s, Hindi cinema was poised for a change. The decade had largely been about escapist cinema, and though some of these had great songs, there was little that was creative and path-breaking by way of content. The odd exceptions – Bandini, Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam, Anupama and Teesri Kasam – only proved the rule about a decade that replaced the artistic aspirations of the 1950s with what has in effect come to define ‘Bollywood song-and-dance’ cinema.

The advent of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in 1962 played an important part in this change, with its first batches beginning to enter the industry, bringing in a change in aesthetics. The year 1969 was to be a watershed in the history of Hindi cinema, with three films that proved instrumental in ushering in a new language, heralding the New Wave in Hindi cinema: Mrinal Sen’s Bhuvan Shome, Mani Kaul’s Uski Roti and Basu Chatterjee’s Sara Akash (all three were shot by K.K. Mahajan, who had graduated from the FTII in 1966, and who became synonymous with the New Wave and with the cinema of Basu Chatterjee).

Of these three film-makers, Mrinal Sen remained rooted largely to Bengali films and Mani Kaul carved a space for a personal cinema free of commercial considerations. It was Basu Chatterjee who, in conjunction with the films of Hrishikesh Mukherjee and Gulzar, provided an alternative to the big-budget extravaganza of mainstream films of the era (the Manmohan Desais and Prakash Mehras) and the spare aesthetics of arthouse cinema (driven by Shyam Benegal).

The importance of Basu Chatterjee lies in the kind of cinema he popularised when juxtaposed against the cinema that ruled the box office at the time. The 1970s was the decade of the big blockbuster – Yaadon Ki Baaraat, Deewaar, Sholay, Amar Akbar Anthony. Yash Chopra and Ramesh Sippy, Nasir Hussain and Shakti Samanta were the dream merchants. Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra, Rishi Kapoor and Rajesh Khanna were the role models for the filmy hero, while Zeenat Aman and Hema Malini set a million young hearts aflutter. The aesthetic of Hindi cinema was larger-than-life.

They were not heroes and heroines, but the man and woman next door

Basu Chatterjee provided an alternative. His debut, Sara Akash, belonged firmly to the New Wave school of spare film-making. He however jettisoned this soon, opting for a middle road between this and the big-budget extravaganza. In doing so he made ‘small’ beautiful and commercially viable. With Rajnigandha (1974), he revolutionised Hindi cinema, casting rank newcomers in a literary classic by Mannu Bhandari. The film, unlike any other film of the time (a runtime of approximately two hours, no lip-synched songs, no fights, no flashy clothes and make-up for its actors who looked nothing like Greek gods) broke all records at the box office. He had already shown a penchant for a different approach to the cinema of the city in Piya Ka Ghar (1971), dealing with a couple finding their way to love and domesticity in the confined spaces of a one-room tenement in Mumbai shared by the extended family. While the latter starred Jaya Bhaduri (in one of her early roles) and Anil Dhawan (fresh from the FTII), Rajnigandha made stars of the unlikely duo of Amol Palekar and Vidya Sinha.

Over the next few films, Basu Chatterjee made his school of cinema an audience favourite. Chhoti Si Baat and Chitchor, both 1976, starred Amol Palekar, who soon came to be termed ‘the Amitabh Bachchan of middle-of-the-road cinema’. In Vidya Sinha, the director gave Hindi cinema the very antithesis of the ’70s heroine. His characters epitomised the Everyman. They were not heroes and heroines, but the man and woman next door. The men were not macho style icons. They were often gentle, hesitant and even lacking in ambition. The women were down to earth and real, not coy and simpering. And their world consisted of humble middle-class drawing rooms, local bus stops and trains, and office corners. Even when he cast superstars like Amitabh Bachchan (Manzil, inspired by Mrinal Sen’s Akash Kusum) and Dharmendra (Dillagi, with Hema Malini), the stars willingly shed their starry mannerisms to play everyday characters.

His spotlight was on literary classics, communities and women

No one brought alive particular communities as lovingly as he did in his films like Khatta Meetha (the Parsis) and Baaton Baaton Mein (the Christians in Mumbai). And few film-makers of the time were as adept at adapting literary classics as he was – Sara Akash (from a novel by Rajendra Yadav), Piya Ka Ghar (Vasant Kale, or Va Pu), Rajnigandha (based on a short story by Mannu Bhandari), Ratnadeep (Prabhat Mukhopadhyay), Swami and Apne Paraye (based on novels by Saratchandra Chattopadhyay) – giving his cinema a unique literary sensibility.

One of the most revolutionary aspects of his cinema lay in the woman his films portrayed. Right from Malti in Piya Ka Ghar, they were independent women with a mind of their own. They were determined, focused and unwilling to bow down to convention just because society demanded it. Vidya Sinha’s Deepa in Rajnigandha is revolutionary in the way she is shown as unable to make up her mind about the two men she is dating. Zarina Wahab’s Geeta in Chitchor decides to follow her heart in the face of family opposition. In Swami, the woman reads Thomas Hardy and is torn between the man she thinks is her intellectual equal and her ‘simple’ husband. These women challenged the existing tropes on the portrayal of women in Hindi cinema.

Wah, what songs! ‘Yeh jeevan hai’ to ‘Kai baar yunhi dekha hai’ to ‘Rimjhim gire sawan’

This ability to carve out a different cinema was visible in the songs in his films as well. From ‘Yeh jeevan hai’ in Piya Ka Ghar to ‘Rajnigandha phool tumhare’ in Rajnigandha (‘Kai baar yunhi dekha hai’ from the same film won a National Award) to the evergreen songs of Chitchor to ‘Rimjhim gire sawan’ (arguably the finest rain song in Hindi cinema) in Manzil, the cinema of Basu Chatterjee provided Hindi cinema with some of its most loved and enduring classics.

The dream of 1969 was to prove short-lived. By the end of the 1970s, the cinema of the Basu Chatterjee-Hrishikesh Mukherjee-Gulzar School was shutting shop. Driven by a changing demographic, the onslaught of video piracy, some indifferent films by the film-makers themselves, and the advent of TV as a popular medium, kitschy commercial films were making a comeback in a big way and the next decade would witness a new low for Hindi films.

Basu Chatterjee, of course, led the first wave of top-notch and popular content in television with serials like Rajani, Byomkesh Bakshi, Darpan and Kakaji Kahin proving to be trailblazers. His legacy lives on in the cinema of every filmmaker who explores the life and world of the Everyman.

Rohaan Arjun has been to Julien Day School followed by Graduating in Physics Honours, from Ashutosh College, Kolkata. He loves indulging in casual chats over a warm cup of coffee.

Recent works of a group of 8 eclectic contemporary artists from Bengal and Lucknow have been displayed in a group art exhibition at Jehangir Art Gallery, M.G Road, Kala Ghoda, Mumbai 400001 from 6^th to 12^th June 2023 between 11 am and 7 pm. Noida, June 6, 2023 – The Asian Academy of Film and Television (AAFT) proudly celebrated its historic 116th Convocation, setting a new benchmark in the world of creative education. This remarkable feat marks a significant milestone as no other creative institute has ever conducted a 115th Convocation or valedictory function before.

in 2020. She did her B. Arch from Sir J. J. College of Architecture Mumbai. After achieving proficiency and eminence in her profession as a practicing Architect, she had a desire to start her well decorated Arts Studio where she could render her services for propagation of visual arts. She has been doing so for the last 3 years by executing customized requirements of Arts in various modules and norms as per the requisite needs of Art Collectors/ buyers as well as promoters of visual fine arts. This show is her debut venture in this field to promote the contemporary renowned artists and their art work in the present art scenario in order to reach prospective buyers/ collectors of fine arts.

Vitthal Hire :-His thematic works in water color on paper reveal the proficiency in and command over the medium and technique used for the aesthetic adornment of the various works with the desired visual perspectives. He has mostly emphasized the life style and struggle of various people in their life in rural environments, the sanctity of different festivals, the relevance of such celebrations in life, important vignettes of culture and heritage in rural and urban areas, beauty of nature and its numerous wonders and vivid religious fairs and their relevance in human life. His works being lucid and eloquent often receive overwhelming public response and appreciation from the present art world due to relevance of our heritage, religious glory and eternal spiritual fervor as well as apt color harmony and rhythm of the colors used for their artistic adornment with the desired visual aspects of eternity and divinity.

Pradip Sarkar :- He has expressed divinity of Art in his work showing the  ardent love for music and harmony. He has focused on spiritual and cultural aspects of the society to exhibit an imagery blended with Vedic meditation and the precept of self-control, connecting the individual soul with the universal spirit. His works depict the sage of urge in human mind whereby the depicted deeds inspire others through love, affection, innocence, emotional bonding, festivity etc. which, in turn, create the required ambience for his thematic peculiarity and expressions. Vivid musical instruments and their rhythmic visual aesthetic relevance and sanctity occupy a prominent place in his works.

Ashif Hossain – His work in Acrylic Colors on canvas reveals the subtle nuances of the spiritual fervors and eternal religious sanctity associated with Benaras Ghats. His works are unique in their own way and have their visual aesthetics achieved through apt color combinations and their harmony as well as rhythm in proper perspectives of visual arts. The lucid and expressive works revealing cultural vignettes of Benaras, temples and shrines there and the overall religious environment prevalent in that area soon share a dialogue with the viewers due to their clarity and visual glory as well as aesthetics in the desired arena.

Deepak Patil :- His works in OilColors illustrate fusion of reality and imagination in an expressive way. The transparent and fluid brushstrokes create ethereal feeling to the paintings. He brings out harmony and balance by infusing bright and muted colors and a striking play of light and shadow. He works in other mixed media including use of sand and other ingredients to adorn the works with the desired textural effects and surface finesse in apt arena and perspectives of visual arts.

Paras Parmar :- His Abstract  works are subtle yet vibrant and energetic which often express powerful brushstrokes showing the emerging independence of inner vision similar to dream-like views. Vivid works in acrylic colors on canvas indicate his struggle in life which he investigates, with his spirit to find the solution. His inner feelings and moods can be experienced by different brush techniques adopted by him for the artistic and aesthetic adornment of the work with the desired visual effects in the apt arena and perspectives of visual fine arts. Good color combinations and their aesthetic harmony and rhythm find a prominent place in his works.

Recent work of a group of 4 contemporary artists – Anupama Dey, Ashwathi Avinash, Bhaskarjyoti Gogoi and Dattaram Sudhakar Nerurkar has been displayed in a group art exhibition at Jehangir Art Gallery – Auditorium hall, M.G. Road Kala Ghoda Mumbai 400001 from 30^th May to 5^th June 2023 between 11 am and 7 pm. It will illustrate their genuine artistic instincts and skilful techniques in various mediums and norms under one roof.

This show was inaugurated on 30th May 2023 by Gourmoni Das in the presence of Tanuja Rane, Prof. Vishwanath Sable, Prakash Rajeshirke, Nilesh Kinkale, Apurva Nandi, Hansodnya Tambe, Smita Kinkale, Tathi Premchand.  

Vibing with the aura of a heritage aesthetic existence & the aspiration of a highly advanced future and the metamorphosis into that tomorrow, the Millenismal takes you back in time as much as it connects to the present. Curated by Artist and Art Curator Smita Kinkale, the exhibition tells stories from different walks of life, like a metre of a poetic expression sung by all together.

It is like getting lost in an artistic direction on a journey of discovering the elements we had left in the most sacred corners of our childhood memories. What makes this exhibition special is how the artists have created different versions of the same reality we all hold dearly within us, yet give us a way of exploring more with every artwork.

Belonging to the same time, yet coming from different places (geographic areas & cultures), the four artists enrich the exhibition by bringing together different journeys whose core essence perfectly syncs into one family sentiment of growing apart, yet together; connected by substantial values and an innovative future.

With four different forms of expression — printmaking, ceramics, painting, & sculpture — the four artists (Anupama Dey, Ashwathi Avinash, Bhaskarjyoti Gogoi, Dattaram Nerurkar) have created a multiverse of experiences that balance traditional design with a contemporary approach, thus creating the rhythm through various elements of design, without limiting mediums & forms.

Anupama Dey

She worships Printmaking by portraying her real-life experiences through diverse techniques and methods. Growing up in a rural setup in the countryside, coexisting finely with human life, her perspective of involving often forgotten portions makes her prints purely relatable. A house lizard smoothly merging with other everyday elements will bring a smile to your face, truly redefining coexistence where we take it for granted.

With the belief that learning is a lifelong journey of possibilities, her exposure to forms of performing arts like music & dance, adds rhythm to her style and form of work. The depth of thought is visible through the natural aesthetics analogous to time and space, today, yesterday & tomorrow, depicting the ever-relatable parts of living.

Ashwathi Avinash

Her passion for bringing sentient dimensions to the multitude of her childhood experiences brought her closer to expressing herself through ceramics. Belonging to a culture that appreciates the earthy existence of the joy of living, her childhood playthings form the essence of her inspiration to express time in its most innocent, yet charismatic way.

Her artworks spark an element of interest and you are in another world as much as you start feeling good about reality.

The baking techniques she uses, connect to the old days of simple living and the texture translates into telling a story of the past that is eternally relevant and special. Her love for the functional utility of art pieces makes them merge into the space they occupy along with establishing the distinct identity of their aesthetic experience.

Bhaskarjyoti Gogoi

Crafting three-dimensional details into the artwork, his paintings look like the pages of a life-size story book inviting you into his world of nature and emotions. Coming from regions that are blessed with a divine natural world, his work speaks through profound emotions, textures, and nature-inspired elements that stunningly capture your attention and you would get lost in his work for hours, and yet find it interesting every new day or at times, moment.

His brushstrokes create a symphony on the canvas. You can truly find yourself in the story, and at times as an observer appreciating the art with the overwhelming emotions, flowing in sync with the aesthetics.

Dattaram Nerurkar

Rooted in beauty and speaking stories of time & space that are eternally pertinent, his artworks are abstract sculptures crafted from naturally found materials like wood, stone, and metal. The geometry of shapes and forms take you to a world beyond your regular curiosity. The three-dimensional melody of the sculpture is a realisation that an emotion can be expressed through abstract forms of being and yet become relatable to the deepest possible context of existence.

Aged wood and the stones that hold a world in themselves speak of boundless emotions and become poetry in multi-dimensions. Intentional edges and cuts, and at times, burns, add elements of reality to his artworks, thus harmoniously mixing them in the space around them along with establishing their abstract existence with aesthetic expressions.

Millenismal

It’s about time & space, and it is about depth, experiences, and expressions. Millenismal is an odyssey of each of these artists independently & in conjunction with the depiction of the past, present, & future. The framework of their thoughts expressed through form, shape, texture, colour, and pattern manifests through distinct identities, yet materialising in one ecosystem celebrated as Millenismal.

भारत के युवा तैराक आर्यन सुरजीत दडियाला ने गलील सागर तैरकर विश्व रिकॉर्ड बनाया है। इस विश्व कीर्तिमान की सफलता का जश्न मुम्बई में शानदार ढंग से मनाया गया जहां समुद्राजा आर्यन, उनके पिता सुरजीत दडियाला सहित कई हस्तियां गेस्ट्स के रूप में मौजूद रहीं जिनमे फ़िल्म निर्देशक बॉसको मार्टिस सहित कई विशेष मेहमान मौजूद रहे जिन्होंने आर्यन को इस विश्व रिकॉर्ड के लिए बधाई और शुभकामनाएं दीं।

इस पार्टी का मकसद भारत और इसराइल के बीच रिश्तों को और मजबूत करना भी था। यहां बेहतरीन केक काटकर इस सक्सेस पार्टी को मनाया गया।

बता दें कि गलील सागर विश्व का दूसरा सबसे निचला जल निकाय है, जो समुद्र तल से 214 मीटर नीचे है। इंडियन तैराक आर्यन सुरजीत दडियाला ने मौजूदा विश्व रिकॉर्ड की बराबरी कर एक इतिहास बना दिया। वह गलील के सागर को तैरने के लिए संयुक्त रूप से सबसे तेज तैराक बन गए, जो खराब मौसम के हालात का बहादुरी से सामना कर रहे थे। आर्यन दादलिया गलील सागर में तैरने वाले एशिया के पहले तैराक हैं। उन्होंने महज 5 घंटे 36 मिनट में 32 किमी खुले पानी की समुद्री तैराकी पूरी करने के बाद नवंबर 2022 में गोवा में विश्व रिकॉर्ड स्थापित करने के लिए चर्चा हासिल की थी।

आर्यन के पिता सुरजीत ने बताया कि गलील के समुद्र में तैरना आर्यन का अब तक का पहला प्रयास था और उन्होंने इसे एक चैंपियन की तरह हासिल किया।उन्होंने सुबह 5:18 बजे तैरना शुरू किया जब एकदम अंधेरा और ठंड थी और 11:33 पर तैरना बंद किया और पहली कोशिश में गलील सागर को तैरने वाले संयुक्त सबसे तेज पुरुष तैराक बन गए।

आर्यन के पिता सुरजीत ददियाला को अपने पुत्र के इस कारनामे पर गर्व है और उन्होंने इसे पूरे देश के लिए प्राउड मोमेंट बताया। उन्होंने बताया “आर्यन को तैरने के दौरान मौसम संबंधी और कई शारीरिक चैलेंज का सामना करना पड़ा। तेज हवाओ का उन्होंने हौसलों के साथ सामना किया और अपने आत्मविश्वास के बल पर तैराकी का यह रिकॉर्ड बनाने में कामयाब रहा।”

A well known contemporary artist Shirish Mitbawkar will showcase his work in a solo art exhibition in hall no 1, Jehangir Art Gallery, M.G. Road, Kala Ghoda, Mumbai 400001 from 16th to 22nd May 2023 between 11 am to 7 pm. It will reveal his typical artistic perceptions about the dignity of love and its relevance / sanctity in the present materialistic world.

Shirish Mitbawkar had his art education upto G.D. (Arts) Drawing & Painting followed by Art Master’s diploma in which he stood 1st in order of merit in Maharashtra. Then he worked as Professor of fine arts in L.S. Raheja School of Arts, Bandra Mumbai from where he retired as a the head of department of the fine arts.  He has participated in several solo and group art shows in leading art galleries in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, New Delhi etc as well as workshops and art camps at Kolhapur, Pune, Nasik, Mumbai etc. He is a proud recipient of many awards and prizes from prestigious promotional institution of national and international reputations.  He has received good public response and appreciations from the present art world for his presentations in these art galleries and his works are in collection of several art collectors and art promotional institutions. He has successfully handled several significant responsibilities and thereby rendered his yeoman services for the propagation of visual fine arts.

The present series highlights his artistic perception and innovative visual perspectives of the Dignity of Love” and their relevance / sanctity in the present era of modernism and neo standards of culture and heritage. Choosing Krishna as the main iconic muses and motifs for emotional affinity/attachment and sentimental rhythmic harmony of numerous feelings, he has aesthetically and artistically adorned his thematic works with the ethnic hues and ecstasy of eternal love between these omnipresent lover in his typical style of visual expressions. He has made optimum hues of several iconic motifs like Horses, bulls, conches, Lotus flowers, cows and calves, peacock feathers, flute, weapons like Gada and Chakra etc in apt arena and perspectives of his work to justify their relevance and sanctity in human life. His works are, in a way, the artistic ode to his conceptual perceptions and aesthetic standards of the visual glory eloquence, tranquility, eternal divinity and other related visual parameters of ecstasy and rhythmic harmony of the omnipresence of the divine love and its dignity.

Mumbai, May 12, 2023 –  With the onset of summer and rising temperatures, Vedanta’s The Animal Care Organization (TACO) together with Climate Warrior launched a water bowl challenge along with a walkathon for the welfare of the city’s stray animals. The event, which saw the participation of over 650 people, was inaugurated by actor Bhumi Pednekar, also the founder of Climate Warrior, and Priya Agarwal Hebbar, Non-Executive Director, Vedanta and Anchor, TACO.  Hosted at the Father Agnel Ashram in Bandra, the event brought together animal lovers, particularly students, from the city to build awareness on the need for an ecosystem of well-being for all animals.

As part of the water bowl challenge, the participants were encouraged to place water-feeding bowls for stray animals and birds. In addition, an animal health camp by a group of veterinarians was also conducted to offer health check-ups to strays and pets. Bhumi Pednekar, a champion for several social causes, was seen interacting and motivating the participants throughout the walk. The cause was also supported by Agnel Education & Social Development Foundation and TACO’s implementation partner, YODA (Youth in Defence of Animals).

The ‘Water Bowl Challenge’ is aimed at encouraging people to provide drinking water and food to stray animals and birds, during the rising temperatures. As part of this initiative, participants are invited to take part in a challenge on social media wherein they will post a selfie with the feeding bowl, tagging TACO, and nominate their acquaintances to take the challenge forward by posting similar pictures while feeding strays and /or with water bowls. The objective of this challenge is to inspire everyone to exhibit kindness and compassion towards animals and birds while creating awareness about the cause.

The aim and avowed purpose of this kind of exchange of greetings as well as goodwill is to reinforce the strength between diverse groups and also strengthen the unity and the understanding between all religions and faiths which is relevant in today’s times of distress.”

Sahil Khan reiterated that communicative gatherings as part of cementing social relations is the sole purpose of our various festivals as well as their celebrations.  “Hundreds of our members set out to provide piping hot meals and our brand Aqua Hunk Water to different marginalised people all over the city as well as suburbs in Mumbai for the last several years. During the recent dreaded COVID-19, our squad members distributed water and ration to several hundreds of people every day all across the country.”

The Kerala Story is an upcoming Hindi- language film inspired by true events that happened in the Indian state of Kerala. Filmmakers shed light on the very sensitive issue of forced conversion of religion. The movie follows a group of women of who were forced to convert to Islam and join the terrorist group ISIS. It is believed that most of the women who were lured were of Hindu decent.

The Kerala Story is centered around the story of a Hindu girl named Shalini who was forcibly converted to be Muslim Fatima. The movie documents her journey from Kerala to Afghanistan and then to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. It is a very sensitive, touching and heart breaking story of human trafficking.

The Kerala Story is the first movie to ever be aired in India Cinema that openly discusses the topic of forced conversion. It also one of the first to depict how many girls are trapped in love Jihad and have to reach officials for help. Director Sudipto Sen wants viewers to witness first hand how innocent girls from all over the world are trapped, brain washed and transformed into the puppets of Islamic State (ISIS). Film makers have attempted to uncover the hidden truth of the approximately 32,000 women who have allegedly gone missing.

The movie released on May 5, 2023 worldwide. The movie has been highly reviewed by critics and had big opening weekend. It is advised that viewers watch the film with an open mind and responsibly.
